Sermon Title: The Resurrection: Cornerstone of Our Faith
Preacher: Pastor John Walls
Date: Easter 2025

Summary: On this Easter morning, Pastor John Walls reminded us that the resurrection of Jesus Christ is not just an event in history—it is the very cornerstone of our Christian faith. Without the resurrection, there would be no gospel, no hope, and no salvation. Pastor John began by teaching about the empty tomb, explaining the miracle the disciples witnessed when they saw the collapsed grave clothes: proof not of a stolen body, but of a Savior risen by the power of God.

Moving from teaching to preaching, Pastor John powerfully shared how the resurrection touches every part of our lives:

  • Pardon for Our Past: No matter the mistakes we regret or the shame we carry, Jesus offers full pardon through His death and resurrection. Like a judge who not only forgives but expunges the record, God completely wipes away our guilt when we come to Him in repentance.

  • Power for Our Present: In a world full of temptations and challenges, Jesus gives resurrection power through the Holy Spirit to live differently—to make good decisions, to resist sin, and to be shaped into the people God calls us to be. Pastor John especially encouraged young people to choose friends wisely, knowing that their choices today will shape their futures.

  • Promise for Our Future: Death is inevitable, impartial, and inescapable for all—but for the believer, death is not the end. Because of Christ’s victory, death has lost its sting. We can live without fear, knowing that we have eternal life secured through Him.

Pastor John closed with a personal and compassionate invitation: If anyone was uncertain about their standing with the Lord, today is the day to come to Christ and receive the gift of salvation made possible by the resurrection.

He left us with a powerful reminder: It’s not the length of our life that matters most—it’s what we do with the time we’re given between birth and death that echoes into eternity.
